Coordinate day-to-day integrated logistics operations: Schedule and organize freight for both international and domestic inbound and outbound loads. Prepare and execute freight negotiations with carriers to secure optimal rates and services. Prepare Canadian and U.S. customs documentation as required for cross-border shipments. Coordinate all modes of logistics, including rail, barge, road, and ocean Perform administrative duties, such as answering phones and managing filing systems. Liaise with external transportation contractors to ensure seamless operations. Communicate and collaborate with internal departments, including Logistics, Finance, Procurement, Sales, and Operations. Collects and analyzes relevant performance metrics, coordinates activities, and ensures efficient use of company resources: Develop reports that detail transportation costs for specific projects and movements. Conducts material control coordination, and data entry to assist various supply activities. Supports the maintenance of logistics policies, procedures, support plans, and related documentation. Assists in maintaining logistics planning tasks to ensure smooth operations. Reviews and analyzes program effectiveness, suggesting and executing timely improvements and corrective actions. Coordinates property accountability and addresses maintenance issues. Provides advice and recommends pertinent accountability procedures and policies, addressing discrepancies and divergences from regulations. Establishes and maintains optimal inventory levels for consumables. Develop schedules and reports and conduct regular inventories of supplies and property. Administers and implements the inventory management program. Regularly updates work priorities and fulfilling routine tasks assigned by the supervisor. Coordinates with unit managers and co-workers to ensure automated systems are updated and outputs are accurate and current.
Completion of post-secondary education (College or University Level) in a related field (Customs, Importing/Exporting and/or relevant experience Canadian Institute for Traffic and Transportation (CITT), Professional Logistician (P-Log) 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role and hands-on logistics experience. Proven ability to organize, prioritize, problem-solve and ensure accuracy (attention to detail). Proven ability to demonstrate good communication skills with a positive attitude. Strong attention to detail & accuracy, & ability to interact with customers over the phone in high stress situations. Proficient computer skills ? MS office applications (esp. MS Excel)
